Catriona Gray is no stranger to singing out of her comfort zone. “My second gig ever, I was in my underwear—in front of so many people,” she says of performing at Bench Universe last year, clad in mesh panties while singing Christina Perri’s “Jar of Hearts.”
More daring perhaps is moving to the Philippines from Australia in her late teens. “I was so emotional because I came here by myself and still craved the safety of school. But my parents said, ‘You go to school to get qualifications for a career, but if you can cut straight to your career, than why not?’” The risks have paid off. Besides landing the BENCH/LUXE campaign alongside Borgy Manotoc, Catriona is also on the cover of Rogue Magazine’s Jan-Feb Music Issue.
These days, she’ll go wherever the music takes her, from learning the keyboard and attempting to write her own songs to performing as much as she can, even in a bubbling bathtub.
Collaborating with b/TV, filmmaker Samantha Lee shows Catriona doing Valentine’s on her own terms, including a rendition of a ZZ Ward’s “Move It Like You Stole It” and rocking some BENCH/BODY and Shapewear pieces. Press play and get a few ideas on what turns the lovely 20-year-old on (clue: music).
